WI Tech Month Presents Women in Tech Week: Dorinthia Robinson

This “Women in Tech Week” feature is dedicated to Dorinthia Robinson, Information Technology Project Manager @ Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin.

Dorinthia Robinson is an innovative, detailed oriented project professional. She has a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology specializing in Project Management and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute. Dorinthia currently works as an Information Technology Project Manager at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin. She also currently serves as Community Engagement Director for the Milky Way Tech Hub which provides her the opportunity to combine her passion for planning events and engaging diverse professionals working in STEM careers. Since transitioning her career into tech, she has also worked in various capacities including as Business Process Analyst, Systems Administrator, Project Lead, and Trainer including for Rockwell Automation, Manpower Group and Thomson Reuters. Dorinthia believes that “my ability to connect with people and explain tech in a way that is easily understood has been an asset throughout my career.” Pursuing a career in Project Management has offered a great way for her to use her natural planning and leadership skills to engage in various aspects of the tech industry.

Over the years when transitioning into the Corporate America, Dorinthia intentionally maintained her engagement with youth serving organizations within the community by volunteering with various groups to include PEARLS for Teen Girls, Lead2Change Inc., and the Greater Milwaukee Urban League. She received the Adult Achiever of the Year Award from the YMCA Achievers program and was recognized by Marriott International for distinguished performance and community service while serving as President of the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals. Dorinthia is also a United Way Project Lead graduate which is a program that prepares community members for leadership roles on nonprofit boards and committees. She works to pursue opportunities within those spaces to encourage young people to explore STEM careers.

In addition, Dorinthia is twice elected to the Brown Deer School Board where she currently serves as Vice President. In Spring of 2021, she was appointed by Governor Tony Evers to the Governor’s Juvenile Justice Commission.

She firmly lives by her favorite quote as stated by many that “service is the rent that we pay for the privilege of living on earth!” Learn more about Dorinthia and connect at www.linkedin.com/in/dorinthia.
